Noise Study for Houston International Airport
Wyle conducted noise monitoring and noise contour modeling analyses for Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and provided the Houston Airport System with support in developing print and online airport noise documentation. Wyle conducted a community noise monitoring program, a radar analysis, an airport operations analysis and supplemental noise analysis in the form of specific-point analysis and single-event aircraft contours to assist the airport with its ongoing noise management program. Wyle also produced flight frequency maps and noise exposure contours using advanced GIS approaches such as color-gradient grid mapping and overflight density algorithms.
Wyle supported HAS in a total of five meetings with a Technical committee representing different neighborhoods in the vicinity of the airport. Wyle also provided the airport with a profile analysis of specific aircraft types for arrival operations at the airport and compared single-event noise exposure resulting from different altitudes on final approach. This analysis was helpful to the airport's efforts to respond to community concerns.
